Coleman Art Projects is the fine art advisory firm of Candy Coleman. Ms. Coleman has 41 years of professional experience in the art world with an expertise in modern and contemporary art since 1912. In October 2017, Candy began her own art advisory after 21 years at Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles and 10 years at Sotheby’s in New York and California. Candy was a founding director of Gagosian Gallery, Los Angeles for 21 years where she became a trusted advisor to collectors around the world selling major works by artists including Picasso, Cy Twombly, Ed Ruscha, Andy Warhol, Brice Marden, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cecily Brown and Takashi Murakami. She directed the museum, private sales and gallery exhibitions for Ed Ruscha for over 17 years organizing exhibitions for him at the Venice Biennale in 2005, the Hammer Museum, and the Museo Tamayo. In addition, she initiated and was the senior editor for the first five volumes of the Ruscha paintings catalogue raisonné. She also had the privilege of working with the family of Arshile Gorky and was an executive producer of the documentary film Without Gorky, written and directed by Gorky’s granddaughter. Prior to Gagosian Gallery, Ms. Coleman lived in New York and was a senior specialist in the Contemporary Art department at Sotheby’s for nine years. Ms. Coleman received degrees in art history and business from Vanderbilt University in 1983.
